General Administration

1. Within what timeframe do employees have to complete the program?
30 days for Online and Self Directed format
1day, approximately 6 hours, for Facilitated format
2. Must everyone wanting to facilitate the program complete the Train-The-Trainer (TTT) workshop?
Yes. Please click here to print a TTT registration form and fax it to SIRS to be added to the waiting list for the next scheduled training session.
3. Who should a participant notify regarding a change of address?
Participants can make the change online, or email or fax the SIRS office with their change of address
4. Can a participant obtain a replacement ID card and/or certificate?  Is there a fee for replacements?
Participant should send the written request to the SIRS office, identifying
rationale (e.g. no longer work at property and employer kept certificate); No replacement fee
5. Is SIRS provincially-recognized?  Nationally recognized?
SIRS is the provincially recognized server intervention program; Although comparable to other programs across Canada, presently there is no allowance for national status and transferability.
6. If someone is holding a special event, should they complete this program?
Yes.

7. Does a participant have to renew their status (e.g. re-write the exam) periodically?
It is recommended that participants re-qualify every 5 years

Fees

8. What form of payments are acceptable?
Visa, MasterCard, Cheque and Money Order
8b. What form of payments are acceptable for public seminars?
Visa, MasterCard, Cheque and Money Order in advance.
9. Can a company/participant be invoiced for the program or must payment be made in advance?
STEC does not accept invoicing for individual participants.Operators, booking staff and workshops should contact SIRS office @ 1-800-331-1529 to arrange invoicing options.
10. Will charges be applied for NSF cheques?
Yes; $20.00 for NSF cheques

Examination

11. Honour System or does the exam have to be proctored?
Participants completing the self-directed (manual and video) format will have a designated proctor present while completing the exam
12. Does the participant receive a passing score or just Pass/Fail?
Pass/Fail
13. How many items (questions) are on the exam?
40 items
14. What is the passing score?
Passing score is 70%
15. After failing the exam, how many times can a participant re-write the exam before having to pay and start over?
Twice (3 chances total)
16. After failing the exam, is there any time limitation between re-writes?
No, but please review the program materials before rewriting.
17. When participants re-write, do they get a different exam?
Yes
18. What information will be conveyed if a participant challenges their score or requests to know which items they answered incorrectly?
Unit numbers/Lessons identified where participant answered referenced items incorrectly
19. How can participants prepare to re-write?
Review information in the Participant Manual or attend another seminar free of charge
20. Can someone buy the exam only and share manuals?
No.  Each time an exam is written, the full participant price must be paid.  The manuals include areas for exercises and notes.

Participants are not permitted to photocopy the exam or manual
21. Who has access to my exam results?
In keeping with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) exam results are provided to registrants. Employers and facilitators also receive exam results if the registrant has authorized release of their results.

Yes; 45 minutes
